Course content
The course will have an historical approach, dealing with the history of the Europeanisation of football through commpetitions and football s collective memory, with a focus on football as producer of national and transnational media events and its symbolic dimension and impact; a socio-anthropological approoach, dealing with issues of identity dynamics and perception patterns as experienced and expressed through football, with a special focus on Nationalism; and with a cocio-political dimension. exploring the emergence of a European public space applying the concept of European public space/public shere to the football community into mainstream discourse; as well as the concept of stakeholder empowerment. with a special focus on the perception of football governence and the European model of sport.
