Course content

Advanced study of the petrography and petrogenesis of the igneous and metamorphic rocks. Use of phase equilibrium, detailed study of chemistry of rock forming minerals, chemical compositions of rocks, geochemical processes in rocks. Problems of classification. Special classification systems. Modes of occurrence and relation to tectonics. Petrographic provinces of the world in general and of Turkey in detail.
