Psychological Trends in Literature II

Course content
This course will survey important texts in post-Lacanian psychoanalytic texts and literature that invites a psychoanalytic approach. In this course students will familiarize themselves with some of the key concepts of Helene Cixous, Luce Irigaray, Julia Kristeva, Slavoj Zizek and Judith Butler. They will also examine the texts written by Shoshana Felman, Gayatri Chakrovorty Spivak, Peter Brooks, Louis Althusser and Fredric Jameson and learn how to extrapolate meaning from literary texts such as James Joyces Ulysses and Virginia Woolfs Mrs Dalloway.
