Explores the metabolic diversification of bacteria and phylogenetic relations. Molecular methods used in systematics of bacteria, major bacterial groups such as proteobacteria (α, β, γ, δ, ε, ζ) , Actinobacteria, cyanobacteria, Flavobacteria, Cytophaga, Green sulfur and nonsulfur bacteria, hyperthermophilic bacteria, Deinococci, Nitrospira and so on. Prerequisite: BIO 303 OR BIO 313 OR FDE 311
